Best part is Bishop would have been the Pack's second best LB this year. Now he's our second best LB. As an aside, I never realized how physically big the guy is. He's no Urlacher and doesn't play the middle but his size sort of reminds me of him. Oh, and by the way, Ponder sucks.

Bishop's got to be out there...he looks to be the best LB on the team. Greenway and Bishop have to be on the field making tackles. Mitchell and Henderson are kind of non factors.

redgrange12, if Bishop would have been the Packer's 2nd best linebacker this year, they would have kept him. That wasn't a cut because of financial necessity. They cut him because they have two better prospects at his spot. To say he would have been their 2nd best, after Mathews, is laughable.

It's just a matter of time and a little more exposure for Desmond Bishop. He's not as big as a Brian Urlacher, but he's faster. By game 3 of the season he'll be the one wearing the mike. "SKOL VIKES"

He'll be wearing the mike only because Mitchell and Henderson are not starter material.

He was released because his injury status was unclear and he was owed a lot of $ He was not released simply because the younger LB's were better.

ARRey sez: If Bishop is indeed all that great, no way the Packers would have just let him go. Especially with the chance he'd sign within their division. Same with Greg Jennings.

Only thing I would do different, if I were Bishop, is hire someone else to go to Green Bay for him. He goes over there, he will become a target, because he is now a Viking.

Can't cut the two rooks from Linebacker U. They look like keepers too. Nice to find some depth.

laknee - you know NOTHING about the Packers or Bishop. I'm the resident Packers expert here -living across from Lambeau field kind of makes me that - AND 45 years of watching everything the Packers (and Vikings) do. I count myself a Vikings fan but have great respect for the Packers as an organization - they are the best pro sports franchise in history, right alongside the Yankees. Bishop is easily the best LB regardless of position, on this team - and he was the best on the Packers squad - Packers fans were livid about his release, injury notwithstanding - and he is considered, by Packers fans in the know, when healthy, a better linebacker than Clay Matthews. OK? So health is the key. He is, at his best, several levels above anything on the purple team - Greenway included. Enough already.
