State’s legislative auditor says security controls are inadequate.

The article states that "vulnerabilities involve older 'legacy systems'" usually code words for IBM/HP/Unisys mainframe systems. Trouble is that these "older" systems usually are or can be more secure than their Windows/Linux brethren because they can be more readily controlled and have more robust security solutions. In all of the data breaches that have occurred over the years the vast majority have involved Windows and Linux systems because of their ease of use and common knowledge of security issues. Hopefully the State will not migrate from their mainframe in the mistaken belief that it is less secure.
