Who cares! There are a lot more serious issues to resolve in this world.

Now this is getting scary! We're legislating universal health care standards for farm animals but not for citizens? Arizona republicans are kinder to pigs than immigrants? With the mandatory transmitters attached to their ears, the pigs might worry about the NSA listening in on them, but at least they can claim voter ID!

Steve should get out more often. This eartag ID auto-feeding has been around for a long time. I'd guess the 90's. Next: A reports about a hog waterer that the farmer doesn't fill with a 12 quart pail!

The headline is quite right - I am on the verge of not eating meat and not because I think it is wrong to eat meat. It is because I know how their treatment has declined over the years.

There's a senior citizen in a nursing home looking for a friend to share a conversation in her/his sunset years. There's a prisoner in jail/prison looking for assistance to turn her/his life around. There are multiple children in economically suppressed areas looking for a mentor to teach education and values.

Or better yet don't eat the piggies! And factory farming is so bad for the environment. Ask the folks who live near them. Yuck.

Comments on animal stories are always so silly and unoriginal. "What about PEOPLE!??!!" "What's next, little parasols, haha!" Can we try to be adults here? People are capable of holding more than one thought in their head at one time. It's a mark of being human to care about the beings entrusted to our care. It's not a failing. Pick up the ol' Bible and read the beatitudes, particularly Matthew 5:7: Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Live it and quit complaining. If you want to only care for the elderly or hungry children, no one is stopping you. I wonder how much you're doing toward those goals?

If we had compassion for animals we would end the boondoggle of Ethanol which is devastating ground nesting birds.

Awesome! This demonstrates what we have all known for so long. Treating animals humanely is a CHOICE. If you want to see how man treats his fellow man, you need only to look at his animals.

The thing that makes us human is the ability to make a choice between offering compassion or creating terror. It's sad that thinking, feeling animals are brutalized in these factory farms. This farm shows that there is a way to go back to treating animals like animals, and allowing them to live their short lives in relative peace.
