Let me see...you had over a year to plan for the new fiscal year but are now pleading mercy from the sequester? Sounds like you didn't believe the sequester would continue and planned your normal increase in spending. Stinks to be you...next time plan ahead.

ANy manager who cannot manage such a small percentage of budget reduction has no place managing a budget. Make do. Its a done deal

Unreal. The Feds have more money, more resources, more staff, more space, the most expensive courthouse, the lowest caseload, and get to pick and choose the new cases they take. Their budget should be cut!

Maybe the Senior Status Judges (semi-retired) should be required to cut staff when they take senior status - currently they may keep full staff: Judicial Asst almost $80k/yr, Calendar Clerk almost $80k/yr, Court Reporter, Law Clerks. Most claim a 40 hour work week and don't even show up every day but are paid for a full week. Or maybe take a look Judicial travel and stay at a less expensive hotel and not book extra airfare stops for personal business or basketball games. Rather hypocritical I think.

Now that I think of it, how about also reviewing what the Chief spent on remodeling his chambers when he became Chief Judge? New furniture, new wall coverings, new carpeting, new toilet ....

The editoral says reduction, but as usual it doesn't state how many dollars less than previous years.

Why is there a sequester? It looks like we have enough money to attack Syria.

We are supposed to have three branches of government; executive, legislative, and judicial. It shouldn't be possible for the legislative branch to starve the judicial branch of funds to the point of disfunction.
