Two season-ending knee injuries could have ruined his career. Instead, Marcus Jones made the Gophers’ big play against UNLV.

Marcus Jones sounds like a really great, hard working kid. Glad to see him back and being successful. The kick off return was awesome.

Always good to see the Gophers win but disappointing to see how UNLV controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Enjoy the cream puffs.. Everyone knows the season really starts with Iowa... From what I saw, it's going to be another long season...

Johnhloyd - Thanks for the great insight. Can you name a Big Ten team that isn't playing a "cream puff" this week? Can you name a Big Ten team that is an underdog this week? Last night was a nice win with big plays in a game that was even at the half. GO GOPHS!

Good effort and grit. Calm QB is good to see. D was agressive if not too much and nervous in first half. Major concern is the the lack of any decent wide receivers (they exhibit a lack of know-how and savvy as well as raw talent).. they could use the RBs more in the passing scheme as well as the TEs as they did in the TD. The other is the running scheme looked dishevelled and one dimensional. They mix a speedster like Jones of Edwards (when he returns). Overall, they hung in and flexed their "muscle" to win with special teams. With the offense sputtering (except for the 2 minute drill TD - good sign), I see some ray of hope. Now to get some WRs or use others (RBs, TEs) to help with the passing.

Great story, both this one and Marcus Jones himself. Thanks.

Its a great day Iowa lost!!!!! I live in the great state of Occupied Minnesota also known as Iowa, and the fans are a little upset We won! Its not that bad. Improvement, sure, we need it; but we looked like the Vikings did when they beat the Giants that one year. Winning is what counts. I feel sorry for those linemen; wow, what a hot night!

Now it is not that we won, but we won the wrong way. I think that is a good sign.
