The team's preseason play certainly isn't inspiring optimism.

Well, we'll need a high draft pick next spring for our franchise QB. Ponder is a nice kid, but he clearly isn't 'the guy.'

You have to be pulling our legs with this article. This Vikings team is loaded with talent up and down the roster. Two of the greatest drafts in team history back to back. A team that is a clear cut super bowl challenger. We are stocked with quality, everywhere. Felton misses a few games, Ellison steps in. If Ponder gets dinged up, Cassell steps in. It is like that at every position. Good grief . Writer either had a bad day or has not been in touch with reality.

If Cassel starts the season is over and the Vikes will get that high draft pick they need to hopefully draft a QB worthy of starting in this league so you better hope Ponder can turn the corner when the lights go on

Klide-Lets tap the brakes on this draft class a bit. I'm as hopeful and optimistic as the next guy, but we haven't even seen these guys in a real game. Let's allow them to prove they are one of the best draft classes in team history before we automatically anoint them as such.

Well, this is a typical Minnesota attitude. While you're at it, let's find all the faults now with Gopher football, Gopher basketball, the Wild and the T-Wolves. Wouldn't it be unique if we could let events unfold as they should and enjoy the game-to-game drama that sports allows without being chicken little and running around screaming that the sky is falling.

Rarely does preseason play offer any consistent indicators as to how a team is going to do in the regular season. A few years ago, the Packers preseason offense looked Super Bowl bound. Those teams finished 8-8 and 6-10...Rodgers first year as a starter. Back in the day the Dallas Cowboys went 0-5 in the preseason and won the Super Bowl. Anything we see in August means nothing in the NFL. Get ahold of your angst, RandBall, and wait for September.

to klide2: Have you actually watched the first 3 pre-season games? Have you actually formed a thought of your own about the coaching and play calling? The Viking organization stinks from the top down. What a shame Peterson has to play on this team.

yogi43 - you are too hard on klide2. I believe that post was satirical. At any rate; doesn't Rand know that the only role of the MN sportswriter is to be a team cheerleader? Gosh - enough of this negative Nelly stuff. We want to be deluded.

As long as Ponder is the QB, the Vikings will not make the playoff. He looks like a nice kid, but not the playmaker or leader this team needs.
