Awesome, awesome, awesome. What a fabulous idea. Big kudos to Ms. Haas for making these visits. What a way to really involve parents in a collaboration and set a wonderful tone for the year!

I hope the article is not advocating that young first year teachers, or any teacher, be required to go into dangerous neighborhoods, into gang-banger homes (they have a lot of kids) to talk to parents about their kids? You do know that there are police officers in schools and part of their job is to protect teachers from parents...

And don't think for a minute that these teachers are not collecting recon on your home, your family, what books, music, or other things inside your home to indicate your politics, your religion, your philosophy etc etc etc... And that will be included in the report...

Teachers doing "recon" on your home? Hard to find a place to start with that ignorant comment. With all the horrible news in the paper everyday, it's wonderful to see an article like this! I can assure you there is no report on whether you listen to One Direction or Zac Brown Band!
