Vikings got a glimpse of Kaepernick before he was famous

The Vikings know the biggest fear in facing the read-option.

After reading Alan Williams comments I wouldn't say he believes the read-option is here to stay. Some comments from others suggest that the read-option can not be successful in the pros because the defensive players in the pros are just far more athletic and fast in the pros then they are in college which makes closing it down easier. Teams that can actually pass the ball are in a better position right now. I believer there is still more focus on the passing game for both Kaepernick and Ponder in this game. I would say most people would give Kaepernick more than an edge there but the receivers might be a different story. San Fran lost Crabtree for the year. We traded away Harvin. Which team has better receivers now? I think the Vikings have the edge there. I know Peterson is playing but we need to see something in the Vikes passing game really soon. It's getting to be an urgent need now to at least see something in the Vikes passing game before the season starts. Everybody knows we can run the ball.

Wake up call--We won't see a passing game against the 49ers and we won't all season long! Hello?? As long a Ponder is starting, we've seen he can't throw downfield, regardless of who the WR's are. He can't take control of any game. He can't lead the offense and his inconsistent play goes back to his college days, in addition to the Pro's. Don't hold your breath. Ponder won't bring any passing game, EVER. We aren't going to see a "different" Ponder this year. In fact, it will be more of the same. "HOPE" is gone, when your talking about Ponder as a franchise QB.

If you ever feel down about our QB situation, watch the Jets. Or maybe Oakland or JAX. It will make you feel much better. But try not to watch the other 28 teams. You'll start feeling bad again.

Is it me or are their more injuries throughout the NFL this preseason that in years past? I don't wanna jinx us but I feel like we're lucky so far with only a minor knee injury to Floyd.

Evidently the Vikings didn't get a very good glimpse of Ponder before he was a Viking.

How different would the Vikings look if they drafted Kaepernick vs Ponder in the 2011 draft? Ponder looks a lot like the next Joey Harrington. Prove us wrong Ponder.

Watch Ponder vs Kaepernick tonight. Then ask Rick Speilman....WHY??? Choosing a QB is one of the more important things you can go as GM. Rick Spielman = FAIL!!

Agree with bruisedup, we probably have the best receivers on the field tonight. However the niners coaches are no dummies, they watched film of our last game. They know if they put pressure on Ponder, he throws the football up for grabs. Expect to see a lot of blitzes tonight, from the niner's, and probably not a very effective game from Ponder. Watched Peyton Manning, when he was playing for the Colts, ninety percent of his passes were play action. Having the best running back in the league, play action should be very effective, if we had a decent QB, and a better Offensive Coordinator.

No worries Viking fans, Ponder is just as good as Kaepernick as long as he dose not have to throw deep and read the defense all the time.
