Major crime in Washington County declines, but new trends bring worries

Heroin use continues to grow, and sex trafficking is under scrutiny. Those challenges lead the sheriff and county attorney to add resources to 2014 budgets.

Is minor crime on the rise? Reading the police blotter and being broken into several times, petty theft from autos, garages and homes seems to be epidemic in Stillwater. You can almost count on your vehicle or garage being entered if you leave it unlocked. Just wondering if it is coming from locals or petty thieves from elsewhere. I do appreciate what seems to be increased drive by patrols through our neighborhoods.
