hey, I got an idea! Let's pay some guy $100,000,000 for sitting around and not doing anything because he's injured. Doesn't that sound like a great idea Terry Ryan (Minnesota Twins owner)?

the season is almost over. it is another train wreck. players no longer care. expect the twins to continue to allow players time off under the guise of injury for the remainder of the season. it happens every year.

concussion symptoms or not, they seem to play better when he is not in the line-up.

You're not gonna see him in the lineup again this year, I'll be surprised if he is. He's gonna chill at home and rock babies and change diapers.

Man it would be great to be coddled like a pro athlete. Mauer is done for the year, Morneau will be traded to Pitt for nothing, and Gardy will get a fat contract extension. Rick Anderson will be the only member of the worst coaching staff in MLB over the last 3 years to be let go.

I'm glad we have Mauer he's a great player. Is he worth $23 million a year, ask yourself if Pujols is worth $29 million a year or A-rod $30? The owners make a lot of money. Do you hear any of them crying (other than the Pohlads)? It used to be players had to have second jobs to support themselves. Mickey Mantle had to shill for a casino. Killebrew made around $100 K tops. They are the best in the world at what they do. Supply and demand. Yes, if you have the ability, you to can be coddled like a pro.

The Twins are better off without Mauer.

Those who write/illustrate comic strips must hate the fact that readers are allowed to post comments. Who needs comic strips when they can come to the comments section for comedy. Funny how, when Doumit was on the concusstion disabled list, there weren't any negative comments about him being coddled. I guess when you make less money, your injuries are classified as legitimate. "The Twins are better off without Mauer". WOW!!!

Timemery, great points. The Twins are obviously better when Mauer is in the lineup. He has been near the top of the league in batting average again, these past 2 seasons, and defensively he is one of the best catchers if not THE best catcher in the game. It is not Joe's fault that a guy tipped a 95 mile per hour fastball up into his mask. And concussions are nothing to fool around with. "Mauer is out for the year" - comments like these wrongly place the blame for the Twins' woes on Joe, rather than on lack of quality starting pitching and lack of clutch hitting from everyone on the team whose last name starts with a letter other than M.
