Nobody has a "right" to not be offended.

As a gun owner / hunter, I get nervous because I know that some (not all) that are "carrying" can do so because they took a one day class. A bit different than someone who maybe be former military, or an officer of the law, that has had more extensive training....

Permit holding gun owners who consider the state capital as a place they need to carry their weapon, show a lack of common sense and responsibility. It proves the permit process cannot recognize paranoia.

All this trust in police and military. Statistically you're more likely to be shot by a cop than a permit holder.

texas, What do you consider proper training to exercise the rights our Constitution protects? Last I checked the Second Amendment, the one with the wording "shall not be infringed" is the only one that our Judicial Branch allows to be infringed.

I am a gun owner who hunts. I believe people who carry guns around in public places are slightly paranoid people who just want to feel more powerful. They should not be allowed to intimidate people by allowing their gun to be seen at the capital. The fact that they are carrying a gun to the capital in the first place suggests they are a little unbalanced mentally, and I would not feel comfortable getting in a shouting match with a unbalanced nut with a gun.

None of the gun rights people have explained why they NEED a gun at the capitol. They go off on the tangent of having a right to do so, which for the sake of getting an answer I accept. But none have ever answered my basic question by explaining a valid need. I know why they WANT, but have no clue why they NEED.

It you your responsibility to justify your infringement on my Constitutional protection of a our unalienable Rights as endowed by our Creator, several of which are enumerated within the Constitution of the United States.

Mankato58 is our first sidestepper today! I don't want to take away your right, I just want the need explained. Be less defensive and more informative.

I have the God given right to protect myself, and this is recognized in the Founding Documents. In this violent time when we are exposed to far more illegally carried arms than legal, why do you wish to disarm law abiding citizens. It may be true that nobody will ever need a firearm within the buildings of the Capital complex. However, how do you handle armed citizens who move from one area of life to the other? Also, if you are going to disarm visitors, what are you going to do with the many employees and elected officials (also employees) who carry in those buildings everyday? I'm not talking about State Police. I am talking about Senators, Representatives, and staffers. I can go on for an hour, but there is not room in these short boxes, most followers here don't have the attention span to read even as much as I have typed, and as I said before, it is not my duty to justify.
