Litchfield native John Carlson’s first year with the Vikings, marred by injuries, left him wanting to prove his worth.

I expect Carlson to have a good year. Rudolph is number one, but that sure doesn't mean Carlson will be sitting on the bench.

If Musgrave is the OC he thinks he is, he'll involve both Rudolph and Carlson, to the full. This team has enough offensive threats (actually, more than enough), to make opposing defenses heads spin. It just takes an OC who can put it together, and players who can execute (read: Ponder, OL). It's obvious that there needs to be much more work on no-huddle, and quick releases, which, of course, means quick thinking, and execution. WORK on it, guys! GO VIKINGS!!!

Always thought Carlson was a good TE with Seattle. Injuries happen in the NFL. The worst part was that his salary didn't come close to his production on the field. Everyone envisioned some type of New England Offense. That was a long stretch by us fans. Lets just hope that he can add something to the team's firepower. Stay healthy, and make some plays. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to add a comment: Felton maybe the biggest over paid player, and doesn't have to great of stats, but does anyone see the fact that in his 1st season with Minnesota, Peterson had his best season with Felton as the lead blocker. Glad they decided to pay the guy. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Live near San Francisco, but grew up in North Minneapolis. Viking fan since 61. Great to have the Vikes in Norcal even for pre-season. There is a huge Viking fan club out here named "Norsemen of the West". Half have never been to Minnesota. Similar to Dallas fans. Makes ya feel at home. You betcha. Go Vikes!!

I don't care how healthy Carlson is this year, you sign a backup TE to a 25 Million $$$ deal! Playing behind Rudolph, who is much better, the value Carlson brings at his contract price is HORRID! Maybe he's good for 200 yards and 1 TD for the season. Maybe. Is that worth $5 million dollars a year? Rudolph is Ponder's main target, he'll be playing all the time.

Carlson, who? I hate to say it, but Carlson really needs to step up to the plate this year. Goodness, I can't believe that the Vikings management would have the 2 most overpaid players. Carlson, get going!!

Carlson has really good hands. I was a Seahawk season ticket holder for years and he made some spectacular catches. Questionable blocking abilities has been the knock on him. May not matter if he is healthy with Ponder though. As Terrible as Moss was with the Raiders amazing how good he was when he went to the Patiots.

Not sure if you're aware of this siouxchamp but you are allowed to have two tight ends on the field at the same time in the NFL. I don't think the Vikes signed Carlson to strictly be a backup.

Funny how our Vikes have the two most overpaid players in the NFL. Only here does this crap happen. For being such an astute business man, Ziggy sure doesn't spend his money wisely. Although he did get the better of us on the stadium deal, but I think that had more to do with us being dumb and attracted to shiny objects than it was Ziggy being biz savvy.
