MNDOT has created a terrible mess not only for commuters, but more importantly, St. Francis hospital in Shakopee. In their infinite wisdom, they have made it virtually impossible to transport patients from Shakopee to HCMC or any other hospital north of the river in a timely manner. Roads are at a single lane in Eden Prairie and 169 crossing the river. Then to top it off, announce the opening of 169 on Wednesday, only to find out they goofed again. Way to go MNDOT. Chock another one up to ignorance.

"But, she said, drivers should see lanes opening by Thursday". The confidence in this statement...

LTBRS39: So, so true. MNDOT absolutely loves words such as Might, Should and Possibly. "Drivers WILL see lanes opening by Thursday?" Doubtful. I "should" just send them a check and a thank you note for their continued efforts....

MNDOT used to be a model department. The last 15-20 years they have completely tanked. Every other DOT in the country puts us to shame. Not even close to IA or WI, either. Unbearable.

Everyone here gripes about MNDOT. Cut them some slack. Would you rather have a situation where our roads and bridges are not being maintained and rebuilt?

Anyone who is complaining about the MN DOT has never driven through Missouri.

I've noticed the decline in MnDOT over the past couple of decades, too. It's coincided with the gathering finance crisis in all other aspects of public and private life. And with the shifting of the tax burden off of wealth and on to work. So actually, it's not coincidental at all. As our means of paying for things has gotten tangled up in its own contradictions, and the elites have moved the cost of maintenance onto those less able to pay for it, stuff has worked less and less well. But hey, Jesse Ventura sent me a check for $200.

I refer to them as mnPOThole rather than MNDOT. I've gone through two sets of shocks on my Chrysler, and my trusty mechanic says the struts and bushings will be the next to give out. Thanks for the potholes, mnPOThole.

I do agree that MNDOT should be cut some slack but doing both Park and Portland Avenues at the same time was a mistake and has made a mess out of the east end of downtown. Secondly, Portland is opening before Park Avenue because there are actually people working on it. Seems some days there is nobody working on the Park Avenue bridge.
