If you're wearing short sleeves or shorts REMEMBER THE BUG SPRAY! There is no shortage of people slapping themselves (and others in their party) at dusk as a mosquito is having they "Fair Snack" - Most importantly - HAVE FUN at the Great Minnesota Get-Together!

Really? We can't figure out to wear shorts and gym shoes to the fair? Thanks for this completely useless article.

I cannot believe someone got paid to write this article. Wear shorts and sneakers to the fair -- maybe even choose a shirt with colors! Got it. Thanks for the helpful tips.

I wore shorts and sandals to the Fair one year and never again. My feet and legs got horribly dirty, I got bit by bugs and the guy at the urinal next to me kinda sprayed wide pattern.

Dear Miss Obvious, Thank you for providing this article to help me prepare how to dress to go to the fair. However, you left out some important details. 1. Make sure you are awake before you get dressed. If you are still sleeping it will be hard to put on a shirt or hat that will pop 2. If you want to buy something at the fair make sure you use US currency. Sticks, rocks and trash will not be accepted, money is the preferred option. 3. If a door is closed be sure to open it before walking forward. If you walk into a closed door it will not be stylish and will likely hurt. Have fun at the fair!

What a completely useless group of paragraphs! I'm not supposed to wave my money around like a flag? If I'm "elbowing my way through the swine barn", aren't those light colors going to get pretty dirty? I'm sure that many well-dressed, fashionable men and women live in Minnesota, but somehow the Star Tribune couldn't get them to give advice or fashion tips.

Mean and stupid people are mean and stupid all the time; they can't help themselves. Newspapers cover the Fair every year and many of the topics covered will be familiar material to all, not just the mean and stupid people. The critical difference between regular people and the mean and stupid people is that regular people don't have to pour out their annoyance at trivial irritancies. Being mean and stupid is obvious to all others and there is no need to broadcast it like we are stupid.

I can't believe the shoe recommendations. What's wrong with sneakers and socks? Ballet flats give NO more support than flip flops (the preferred shoes of the State Fair) and wearing shoes without socks is just asking for a lifetime of troubles (blisters, bunions, athlete's foot...) Get real, people. Don't be a slave to fashion. Take care of your health, from the feet on up.
