avejoecon - I see it has no affect on the multimillion dollar vacations of your president! ---------- Sure it has. He's taken a lot less of them then the last guy that held the White House.

This article was written by employees of the NY Times, not a bastion of news any more. The budget was not "cut 30%", the increases to this year's budget may have had some insignificant cuts. Had these "reporters" given the budget dollars from last year, and the new budget numbers allocated this year, the readers would be able to see there was no cut, just a smaller increase. Maybe our STRIB could let us know these numbers, for its readers?

I am always disappointed in articles like this one. Where are the hard facts ? How much has sequester reduced the budgets of these agencies in actual dollars? That is public information and the most important detail of this story. What is the actual (not budgeted) reduction. It's likely almost nothing.

The sequester has forced managers to make tough decisions? Good, that's what they're supposed to do. If they really think the that agencies are not able to fulfill their essential mission, perhaps the managers are not making wise decisions?

Excellent. More time for work, less for travel is just what many of these individuals need.
