Central African Republic: Rebel leader sworn in as president, has 18 months to organize poll

BANGUI, Central African Republic — The rebel leader whose fighters toppled the government of Central African Republic earlier this year was sworn in as president on Sunday, beginning an 18-month countdown to elections in a country that aid organizations say is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe.
