Ponder better look like a world beater next week or the qb job belongs to Cassel!

It's only pre season but that was FUGLY. Ponder once again looked flustered. Lots of pressure on him, as I predicted. Teams will do that with or w/o Peterson in the game till Ponder figures out how to handle pressure. His performance today was as follows: 9 yards (on 3rd and 15) 5 yards (1st and 10) Incomplete Fumbled (14 yard loss) Incomplete 11 yards (2nd and 5) Incomplete (overthrown) Incomplete Incomplete (wide) Incomplete (short) 25 yards to Rudolph Incomplete (short) Sacked (3rd and 8 at the bills 9) His final 7 plays were 5 incomplete passes, a sack and a 25 yard pass play. Five of twelve for 53 yards. Kevin Kolb, booed by Bill fans, finished with a better passer rating. See, all Ponder needed was better receivers around him. Pathetic performance all around offensively. Defense was fine, but better hope starters don't get hurt. That backup unit is horrible. Way to work Greg Jennings into the lineup. One catch for 5 yards. Patterson 2 grabs for 19 yards. Vikes better play Ponder the entire game against San Fran and hope it goes into OT. Ponder needs all the snaps he can get.

MBT has the best arm and the most upside of the Vikes QB's.

Another tremendous game for Ponder and the offense...5-12 and 53 yards!! Ponder, Jennings, Patterson and Rudolf should be playing the whole game!!! They definitely need the work!!!

With so many positive things seemingly happening with this club it was maddening to see ponder continue to drag this team down. He still looks like he's lost and has no rhythm or timing with his receivers. He seems to have no pocket presence. He will put his head down and run when he should have his eyes down field looking for the deeper routes. He often runs into the pressure instead of utilizing his blockers. They have a lot of talent on this team...it's too bad but they missed when they went all in on ponder.

Did anyone else notice that the QB play improved at each step down the depth chart?

This game makes it all the more puzzling and frustrating why Ponder only played 2 snaps last week. He played less snaps than any other NFL starting QB.....including the likes of Brees, Manning and Brady. The homers will make all kinds of excuses for Frazier and Ponder but this is his 3rd year and he's shown no progress. E.J.Manuel and (egads) Kevin Kolb looked better tonite. I liked MBT last year and he looks more comfortable out there than Ponder does. I have yet to see Ponder go through his progressions. The Vikes have a young and potentially good team but you don't ask a boyscout to lead a Special Forces Seal team.

Ponder?.....well, looked like your typical Ponder. 3 years into the Pros' and we are still waiting for "some" flashes of brilliance. Will Ponder have a break out year, now that he has WR's? Gosh no. Will he continue to improve and get better? Not really. Ponder is a graduate of the Trent Edwards school, where "He can't throw downfield" or "Doesn't know when to throw downfield". Ponder's college backup in only 2 preaseaon games looks MUCH better than Ponder already. Ponderosa's role as a career backup will begin shortly. We're already seeing the WR's excuse of last year, makes zero difference. In fact, Ponder makes our WR's look horrible.
