I had my car stolen and recovered and all kinds of physical evidence with fingerprints but they refused to look at it. What good is all this stuff if they won't use it on crimes?

The city of St. Paul keeps claiming they are broke yet they came up with $1 million to upgrade the crime lab?

$1 million worth of infrastructure is not going to fix the problems with this lab. Some of their biggest problems involve poorly trained staff and unreliable procedures. It's good that the lab is no longer led by a police officer. It is also good that they are hiring someone to do quality assurance. Regardless, they still have a long way to go. They need an entire culture shift. They need to reassess job responsibilities, retrain their staff, and re-evaluate their procedures. The lab needs an entire culture shift.
