Ask Amy: Uncle won't bond with child

Dear Amy: My sister and her husband recently had a baby. They are in their late 40s, and have been together for 20 years. They never told me that they wanted a family, and it turns out they spent years trying to conceive.

Being an uncle is not an option. It comes with your brother, sister, bother-in-law and sister-in-law's kids. I have my sister-in-law and her two kids living with me. I treat them as if they are my own kids. That's an option. But treating them as if I don't want them around even if I'm not a big fan of my sister-in-law is just plain wrong.
