I have a ton of respect for Webb. So nice to see what looks like a solid stable of receivers on our roster for once.

So that means he's going to be cut.

Webb is still another example how Childress ruined a promising career. Webb was drafted as a WR until Childress saw him throw and thought he could make an NFL QB out of him. If Webb was allowed to develop as a WR back then who knows. Now he's behind his development and fighting for his life.

They should cut Simpson and keep Burton and Webb.

He wasn't good enough to play QB and he's a borderline guy for a roster spot as a WR, so it's rather inconsequential. Personally, I would just as soon see him cut so I don't have to hear any more armchair-scouts tell us how he could be one of the "elite" receivers in the NFL if only "given a chance." He's had three-plus years to earn his way onto the field, and he hasn't done it yet, so let it go.

How do you cut a 6'4" receiver with good hands, who is so dangerous after the catch, who seems to know how to block, and never gives up?

So early to start guessing on finished roster spots. We are fans, so what the heck. I don't know if Coach Frazier was tired when asked that question. There is no way the Team keeps only 4 WR's. One pre season game does not make a roster. If that was the case, Patterson, and burton would be the starting WR's, and Line would be the lead blocker for Peterson. A educated guess would have the Vikes keeping 6 WR's on opening day. OK, Jennings, Simpson, Patterson, and Wright, will be 4 [if there are no injuries]. Burton has made great strides since last year. Added that he may be the teams best blocking WR, is a plus. The players that are left are Webb, Brown, Highsmith, Smith, Summers, and Thielen. The next 2 pre season games will separate the final 2 from the available 7 that are left. One of the biggest things will be what these players can do helping special teams. It's nice to have choices. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be absolutely foolish to only keep four receivers, with Simpson's and Jennings' injury history. Wright was banged up early last year too. Put me in the camp that thinks Simpson's spot isn't as solid as it may seem on paper.

I think 5 Wr's are a safe bet to make the roster: Jennings, Patterson, Wright, Simpson(notice i list him 4th), and Burton. Then the debate on whether to keep 6 WRs(Webb) or use that spot on another position will depend entirely on how the battles go for the other roster spots.....on a side note, I think a few years from now it will be humorous to look back at how much time was spent debating Joe Webb when he's out of the league after a minimal impact.
