Glad he's a Viking. Like Ponder, a good guy, and better QB than most people think. If nothing else his presence (threat of taking Ponder's job) will end up making Ponder better - if that's even possible. We'll see.

If CP loses his job, it will be his own doing, or undoing, if you will. When I watch Ponder on the field, and he's struggling, it usually seems it's because he doesn't have the confidence that's needed to thread the needle at the only moment it can be done. It's a very, very small window of opportunity, and when it's gone, it's gone. You can't force it, you can't have the moment - back. His accuracy also needs work. If it happens, let's hope Cassel is the ready pro that he seems to be! GO VIKINGS!!!

Cassel WILL be the starting QB by week three or four. Everyone knows it. Other than that dumb pick in the first game against Houston, he looked sharp. Ponder never looks sharp but rather just tries to "manage" the game. Not a formula for success. Ponder is T-jack all over again. Sad situation revisited.

I was shocked by two things during this week's preseason games: the number of passes thrown by veteran QBs typically playing one or two series to shake off the cob webs. And Frasier's decision to pull Ponder after TWO passes...not willing to risk his starter throwing another INT. That's a sign we'll see a lot of Matt Cassel this year.

Ponder has never earned or won the starting job, plain and simple. Cassel will outplay Ponder throughout the preseason and will do so with the second string guys for the most part. Cassel nearly posted a 100 passer rating in his first time out with a new team. If you turned this into a straight up QB competition like in Jet's camp, Ponder would be holding the clipboard week 1. From college to Pro's, Ponder has NEVER been consistent, which is why he'll lose the starting job this year at some point. Write that down. Keep in mind, Ponder ranked bottom 5 QB's in the league for half of the season last year, 8 games! Ponder's a better QB than most people think?? NO, he isn't. He's a Rex Grossman version 2.0

I want the Vikes to have the best team possible, for the regular season. Why I did not like Frasier pulling Ponder, after he threw only two passes. What was Frazier worried about, and why did he make that decision? Was he worried about starting a QB controversy, if Ponder continued to play poorly, and Cassel played well? Would like to see a open competition for the QB, position, and the best QB, starting for the Vikes when the season opens.

At this point in the NFL, it's no longer about who's the most popular QB, but the best player for the job. It will be a real shame if Cassell outplays Ponder during training camp, but yet never gets a chance to start. Please Frazier, not another Chili/T-Jack saga, this just wouldn't be fair to AP, Allen, and all those others playing their tails off to get us our way overdue first Superbowl title!!!!

There's been an elephant in the room for the past two seasons...and it ain't the receivers. Now that we DO have some we are about to find out that all along the real problem was at QB. Ponder will soon be forgotten.

I am amazed so many fans think they know more than the coaches that Cassel will soon be the starter. Let's hope not, anyone that wishes that has forgotten about his sting in KC. If he was that good, he would still be there. Ponder has more upside, but he is still learning. With the addition to the WR corps this year, he will take a big step forward.

It becomes more and more obvious that people have never watched Matt Cassel as a QB for the KC chiefs... Here is an idea, youtube Matt Cassel KC chiefs..... Then tell me Ponder sucks more after that... There Is a reason KC fans wanted Cassel out of there.... And FYI Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe are too skill players so that argument isn not valid. Wanna see some horrible throws (like Ponder) check it out and tell me your excuse for it
