The problem with is Met Council is that it is unelected and unaccountable, yet it can tax citizens and confiscate private property through eminent domain. It is not a group discussing regional cooperation as described here, rather it is a policy making board that has no oversight nor must face the taxpayers in an election.

Mayor Hovland, what about the new airport flight paths about to be implemented over Edina? These were recommended by the NOC, which is appointed by the MAC, which is appointed by the MetCouncil, which is appointed by the Governor. What say you about that bit of Regionalism?! When will you stand up for YOUR City? That's your actual job, not worrying about regional economy.

I like the cooperative, optimistic, non-hysterical tone of this letter. Good to hear from the folks who are elected to manage our future growth and safeguard our quality of life. The hair-on-fire crowd tends to get attention simply because of the volume at which they voice their opinions.
