How to ... find (and eat) hen-of-the-woods mushrooms

I prefer to simply sauté "hens" in butter and sprinkle lightly with steak seasoning.

These grow in our yard almost every year, around the base of an old oak tree. If they are truly edible, I'm delighted, but I don't want to be the first one to try it. We are in Sherburne county. If you go to Minnesota mushrooms on facebook, I posted a pic.
