Dear Carolyn: I guess I’m old-school because my 23-year-old daughter has moved in with her boyfriend and I have concerns about almost everything. On one hand, I know she is an adult and, even though I think it is morally wrong for two people to have sex before marriage, I will need to accept her choice. On the other hand, I know problems could arise no matter how much they think everything will be all right.

Hmmm, if the couple had been married more than 3 years ago - would they factor in that $10 years ago was 'more' than it is now? Why is he pettily checking each gift amount and judging the people on that? It seems to me, and the others I shared this with, that he should grow up and eith give a comfortable amount, or buy a gift on sale. (And don't count the card or wrapping paper or tape into the cost).
