Usually blocked arteries aren't discovered during routine checkups, unless he complained about being short of breath or tired all the time. I'm willing to bet that Presidents current and past get a pretty rigorous annual checkup that includes a lot more than what a normal person would get.

Good thing Obamacare hadn't kicked in. He would have been told to wait 10 months before a doctor could see him.

Hopefully his stent doesn't take two full terms to fix anything...

Now is the time for George W. Bush to become a vegan like Bill Clinton if he wants to see more of his grand children in addition to setting a good example of better health habits for the nation.

There is not doubt that George W. Bush's annual physical was far more rigorous than 98 percent of the American public with private based PPO health plans. PPO's are probably the best option for someone that is bold enough to want total control of their health care options aside from HDHP's. However, the diagnostic routine for discovering a blocked artery is far from "routine" in any preventative yearly exam, unless you are willing to pay extra for it.

Very few get the presidential package anymore when they go in for an exam.

Couldn't stand him as President and don't like his politics but I do hope that he recovers without further incident. Of course being wealthy makes it a lot easier for him to get proper health care, and its a shame that his party doesn't care that the poor would find it impossible to get the type of care he can get but that's another story!
