Coach Kill: "lucky" in recruiting!! Really! I thought it had to do with hard work, showing progress in building a program, etc. Never have heard being "lucky" as one of the reasons.

I'll believe it when I see it in the big-10 conference.

Wouldn't one tend to "think" an athlete on scholarship at a Big 10 school would be "athletic?" Watch out, Eastern Illinois, the gophers are "athletic!" Next...

thevisionaryAug. 5, 13 6:56 AM

Even at NIU, he was a middle of the MAC recruiter. It shouldn't come as a shock he has been 12 of 12 since arriving in the Big 10 and soon to be 14 of 14. That's some "luck!"

thevisionaryAug. 5, 13 7:00 AM

This is flat out false: "One of the reasons the Gophers were 6-7 last season is that opposing teams had success passing against the Gophers secondary. Kill said that area will be much improved." Anyone who wanted to pound the ball down their throats did so at will. It will be worse this season.

We have been hearing this the last 40 years. Will things ever change at the U?

Sid, Sid... I have heard for the last 35+ years how improved and how athletic this years Gophers team is going to be and It's basically the same old rhetoric. I would think anyone that gets a scholarship in the Big 10 should be athletic. Being dead last in recruiting in the conference doesn't do much for me.

The goat roper better win four Big 10 games this year or he's done as coach!

northhiAug. 5, 1310:07 AM

Let's put the blame where it belongs; the past AD's of the U. Also the misguided that hired them. They never took Minnesota athletics seriously. It's why Boise State is where it is today, focused on the future. It's been a long time since Sandy Stevens, Bill Munsey, and Julian Hook. Go Gophers. Class of 73.

Gophers not withstanding, I've been hearing from the pundits for years how "athletic" Everson Griffith is. Why does he so rarely show up in the stat lines on Sundays? One would think he would have a monster game or two or three or four every year. Though I understand some guys contributions don't always show up in the stat line, Griffith's athletic talent should show itself in that sort of thing.
