The Vikings won't give up on Joe Webb.

Fwallen your probably right about Webb, but I hope this kid makes it. I'm a Vikes fan so naturally I route for the underdog.. LOL:) If your like me when talking about the Vikes the word "someday" seems to be used an awful lot..

Let's see: fast, smart, hard working, good hands, runs perfect routes and a really good kid. We don't need him.

Another team will claim Thielen before the Vikings can get him to their practice squad. If Thielen has to fight it out with Burton and Webb then the Vikings definitely need to keep two of those guys. That means we keep 6 receivers. The way Burton, Webb, and Thielen are all looking makes me think that Simpson and Wright are not locks. Somebody could get traded for depth at cornerback.

If the Vikings just go the route of logic with this wide receiver position then you keep Webb and Thielen and you let Burton go if Webb and Thielen have more to offer in special teams play. It's why I also look at Simpson and Wright and say that they better be looking really good at wide receiver if they arn't going to be contributing on special teams. Keeping 6 wide receivers is a no-go without some of those wide receivers contributing to special teams.

Way to early to tell. The locks that would appear out of thr WR corps, would be Jennings, Simpson, Patterson, and Wright. As far as the other 2-3 WR's that will fill out the spots on the roster, who knows. There seems to be alot of quality youngsters. This will most likely come down to the last cuts. It's nice to see that there is enough quality personell, at WR, that we are even having this discussion. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris Carter form with Randy Moss speed, and good size? If Thielen continues to show it on the field, I think he is in. It's obvious the coaches like him. Thielen has quietly put together a very nice training camp after he put himself on the radar at the spring workouts. Burton, who has disappointed thus far during the past few regular seasons, is having a very good camp himself. But Burton will have to do a Randy Moss imitation during preseason games to make the roster IMO. I think the Vikings carry 6 receivers: Patterson, Jennings, Wright, Simpson, Webb, Thielen.

I'm really pulling for this kid and just because you have some so-called "locks", someone could get hurt, someone could be a bust, could be overrated, have issues, you never know with wide receivers. A little known d-back named Jim Lenard starred for Wisconsin and still is playing in the NFL. There are players who don't get enough chances and some who get way too many. Hang on to Thielen, Vikings.

Speaking of hometown MN guys, how's the 25 Million dollar John Carlson doing? Haven't heard a single thing from him in Camp. No different than the regular season I guess.

May want to tap the brakes a bit on over-valuing our receiving corps, who makes the final roster and why. Haven't even played a preseason game yet and it's not like any of them beyond Jennings, Patterson and Wright. Simpson hasn't accomplished anything in the NFL yet but has shown he tends to drop a lot of balls. Burton's having a nice camp but he's not done anything yet in the NFL. Webb and Thielen are wildcards, both of whom should feel like they hit the lottery if they even make an roster.
