1. When's the press gonna' leave this kid alone? He's 20 years old! 2. NCAA - sounds like they're worried about losing a infinitecimally small amount of the HUGE AMOUNT OF THE FREE MONEY Manziel has made for them! 3. True enough - many college athletes do get a scholarship to be in school ... unfortunately their time is so eaten up they never get a chance to really go to school to learn and enjoy it. This seems to be the case with Manziel.

Mr. Manziel knew the rules when he signed up to play NCAA football. He has a choice - play NCAA football OR get paid to sign autographs - because he cannot do both. Now, I am somewhat bothered by the sheer amount of money the NCAA generates and by some of the ways in which they do it (licensing specific players/teams to video games, for example), but, in general, if college athletes don't want to follow the NCAA rules, then they don't have to play college sports. Play in Canada or play semi-pro if you want to get paid while working towards the NFL. Better yet, play baseball or hockey which have parallel routes to the pros - one paid and one through the NCAA.

minneg56 - If it weren't for the press, nobody would know who he was and he wouldn't have the chance to sign autographs for money in the first place. The press (and us, it's consumers) may be knocking him down, but they (we) are the ones who built the pedestal. Often, those who seek fame find out that it's a double-edged sword.
