Office available on Android phones, but not tablets, as Microsoft tries to boost subscriptions

NEW YORK — Microsoft is bringing a pared-down version of its Office software to Android phones, but it is keeping the app off Android tablets just as it isn't making a version for iPads.

"It requires a $100-a-year subscription to Office..." I believe that perhaps the Product and Marketing folks at Microsoft are smoking something that should not be smoked in the workplace. There are WAY too many Office compatible alternatives for Android that are WAY more reasonably priced. I will never ever pay a $100 annual subscription - there's simply not nearly enough value for that price point.
