I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Barra. The author tries too hard to discredit Mr. Earp with his own "psychological" opinions and suppositions regarding the subject and his family's thinking and actions. Perhaps the author should go back and study the facts as though he were a scientist and do more study on the general attitudes of the antebellum period. This is a really bad piece of "historical literature" and I believe that most people are intelligent enough to pick that up. I am sorry I wasted my money
