Great story. Mr. Berger was one of my favorite teachers of all time - 4th grade at Cornelia Elementary. I am not at all surprised that he has such a special relationship with his grandson. The only thing missing is the cool watch and the gentle warning that "the stopwatch is running"! Nice feature piece tribune. J.Sturm, Minnetrista, MN

What a gift for both grandfather and little boy. My parents helped me with my children before they entered school -- the relationship they have to this day is indescribably wonderful.

What a wonderful story, I've read it twice. Both Gus and Jim are two lucky dudes and the world will be a better place because of it.

All the way from Australia - I was so pleased to read this story about Jim and Gus. Glad to see Jim is still 'teaching'! Also my favourite teacher of all time...
