Wow, I was expecting a much larger economic impact than $15M. Based on a quarter-million people that's only $60 per person.

$15 Million is nothing to sneeze at. I live nearby and rode my bike down yesterday (no way I'm dealing with parking down there), and Canal Park was packed. I hear the hotels are booked up, the tourist-y shops were full of people, and I saw lines outside the local restaurants. As a Duluth resident, it's kind of a headache, but if I were a business-owner catering to tourists, I'd be very pleased.

I would give my left one to tour a replica of Capt. Aubrey's HMS Surprise. I bet that one ship would bring in another million alone. PS, how about a race around the harbor where they have to demonstrate their tacking skills? I realize the various ships are quite a bit different, but maybe a handicap system. That would ad to the thrill.

My only complaint is that I'm not there!

This fleet is notable by one member that is not present. HMS Bounty. Owatonnabill and Spousal Unit toured Bounty several years ago when it was part of the festivities. It was like a trip back 200 years into the past. Today it rests on the bottom of the Atlantic because of a boneheaded move by an incompetent captain. We're all the poorer.
