Oh gawd, they had to mention global warming..er climate change. A simple few 1/10ths of a degree C has NOTHING to do with our mosquito pop.

Yeah, first the writer blames the big hatch on the cold "winter that wouldn't end", then he shifts to climate change as the culprit.

I really don't think it's been that bad this year. I live out in the sticks and besides the usual dusk & dawn times, it's been fine. However, the deer and horse flies have made an appearance in the last couple of weeks and they've been terrible....much more annoying than mosquito.

I'll take those misquotes over these darn deer flies any day.

Just be thankful for the ONE government agency that DOES help us - the MMCD. They are out with pellets, spraying and fogging. Without them, it'd be WAY worse.

Cosmic, as someone who actually works on how temperature affects things like when insects show up in the year, how big their populations get, etc., it makes a world of difference what temperatures you are dealing with. Temperature plays a huge role in insect development and even the more mediocre climate change scenarios still have some pretty big changes in store for the insect pest world.

@ JRB - "Yeah, first the writer blames the big hatch on the cold "winter that wouldn't end", then he shifts to climate change as the culprit." - Do you know how we can tell you have NO idea about how global climate change works?
