I lost respect for Matt Birk when he didn't respect the White House

He better run somewhere other than MN, no one wants or needs him attempting to impose his religious belief on citizens of MN in the form of discrimination and bogotry under the guise of catholic values.

I think the day is long gone when reasonable adults believed that the values of professional football translate into anything of value in politics. I don't blame Birk for wanting to trade on his fame in an attempt to deny women the right to control their bodies, or in his efforts to define who can marry and who can't. But I would hope the people of Minnesota are repelled by the imposition of religion in politics.

He fits the republican mold, and I am glad he's moving to Florida. His disrespect for people who don't share his views is childish and is not a breath of fresh air at all Mr. Ditka. I also don't understand why this article tried to create speculation on his political aspirations in Minnesota when it said at the beginning that he's moving to Florida.

what makes his views any different from what the republican political machine has going? if he wants to be something different and special then he better model the 60's and 70's republicans...less religion and more compromise. i guess it doesnt matter, i wont vote for a republican under any circumstance, lol.

"His disrespect for people who don't share his views is childish..." Unbelievable. If you want intolerance, look no further than the "party of tolerance" liberals who shout you down at every opportunity. Birk would get my vote in a heartbeat.

Birk is a great example of how an intelligent guy can have that "intelligence" neutralized by the Catholic or other religous organization's demand of blind faith.

If he wants to represent Minnesota one day, the first question he'll have to answer is why he's moving his family to Florida for the school year? Minnesota's schools may not be what they used to be have to be better than Florida's.

Let's see now.....showing disrespect to our President because of the President's beliefs and policies; showing more than disrespect to the gay and lesbian community with his bigoted and inflammatory comments regarding his misguided Christian beliefs about marriage between two committed adults and his outrageous stance on women and control of their own bodies regarding abortion.....yup, he's a bona fide Republican and will fit in very well under their small, narrow and lily white tent!

I will take Birk and his economics degree from Harvard vs. the comedian senator we have now.
