Wow! Someone is asking this question now! A good friend traveled quite a bit to the Braizilian region. When discussing the security precautions she was briefed on, it was amazing the restrictions (e.g., Don't do this, don't do that, don't look American, if blonde you're a target, etc.). Maybe Brazil will pull it off but at what cost to the stability of the nation.

My wife is from Brazil and she was in utter disbelief when I told her the Olympics would be held in Rio. She said the gangs are just salivating at the thought of hundreds of thousands of naive foriegnors just ripe for the picking. For the criminals it will be like they are at the Old County Buffet after not having eaten all week.

At least as safe as Chicago.

At least as safe as Chicago...... Afghanistan is safer then Chicago. Hey Mr. Prez, those gun control laws you are constantly touting really haven't helped your home town much, huh?

Somebody should have done their homework before making this decision, but if they don't change it, they'll be in fiscal trouble from the lawsuits.. If they do, so will Rio.. Blame it on Rio, blame it on somebody who didn't do their homework and blame it again on those who chose to take away others' liberty by being thugs.
