I disdain the Kennedys liberal politics but this is crazy We are now all living in the land of illegal or mandatory and there is nothing in between in this regulation nation When will we understand that all of these rules and regulations are choking us to death

Seriously... ? Really now, do we really need a specialist from a Government Agency to free a snared turtle ? This government is bloated enough already, when individual citizens cannot take matters such as this into their own hands then we are done as a people. Whoever the IDIOT was that scolded them should be fired....

Good pr comment. Yes, we were wrong. Even though they actually think the authorities can stuff it. So now everyone applauds their efforts and begging forgiveness.

For all of the harm the Kennedy family has done to our society I would defend them against almost nothing, but THIS is absolutely ridiculous.,Tthey should be commended and not blamed for doing something helpful on their own.

Yes.and then the headline would have been "Ensnared sea turtle found by Kennedys dies when NOAA fails to arrive in time." This is asinine petty bureaucracy at its best.

"Turtle rescue is best left to professionals."------------------Much like the private citizen in New Orleans who, in the wake of Katrina, commandeered an abandoned school bus that had the keys in it, drove around picking up folks until the bus was full, and then drove them all to Houston (where he knew there were facilities being set up for refugees). He was arrested and detained for his actions.

I think what the Kennedys did was well-intentioned and what anyone of us would condone. I will believe the government that it was also dangerous, and it would have been good to call professionals. And of course we would have expected the guys to hang out and make sure the turtle got rescued, and intervene if it looked like time was running out. But we can't penalize every dangerous thing that young men...of any age... do, and obviously the ones that turn out well or are well-intentioned are not even in the realm of consideration for punishment in my book.
