Having it done 3 hours from home is much different than having to wait 24 hours to have it done locally. Technically, this is an outpatient surgical procedure - patients aren't fully put under, but they are given a mild sedative. Unless a patient has someone to drive them to and from the clinic, they most definitely will need to stay overnight since they shouldn't be driving themselves and a 3 hour drive would be uncomfortable. I'm willing to bet none of these lawmakers would be happy if they were forced to ride in a car for 3 hours after an outpatient surgical procedure. But, as we've learned, women's health concerns really don't matter much to them.

stmosquito...I didn't realize that pregnancy was such a disease and was such a massive life and death health issue. I understand that there are times when a pregnancy affects a mothers life that she must have an abortion to save her life. But to now realize that the 1,000,000 unborn children killed every year isn't birth control and to make life more convenient but rather for the mother's health is good to know.

Well, I'm sure some people will be happy that they still have the freedom to kill their innocent little child just because he/she is the inconvenient consequence of her own decisions and actions.

All the right wing talk about "innocent little child" or "baby" is nothing but sensationalizing the reality for an appeal toward pure emotion. What we're really talking about here is a blastocyst smaller than a lima bean which is nowhere near even recognizable as "human". 97% of abortions take place at such an early state that what's evacuated from the uterus is a clump of human tissue. No where near a "little baby" or "innocent child".The sheer hypocrisy in the zeal to insure that every conception be a live birth is that once the child is born, the same people rail against every kind of life-support these "babies" need. From nutrition to early childhood programs to medical care and on, the very same pro-birth zealots have no regard for the lives of the already-born at all. Sheer hypocrisy.
