Army investigates radiation in ex-nuclear weapons bunker at Fort Bliss in West Texas

FORT BLISS, Texas — Army and federal investigators have detected radiation in a former nuclear weapons bunker at Fort Bliss and are trying to determine if anyone or other buildings on the West Texas post may have been contaminated, officials said Tuesday.

Post leaders said contaminated residue was buried in the 1950s and 1960s, when the base was operated by the Air Force. - - - How quickly we can forget. Kudos to the one who suggested CHECKING for radiation in the first place.
