Interesting article. Are they available for lawn care? Wondered about how long it would take a herd of goats to trim a residential yard.

Yes - a very interesting article. I have been eradicating buckthorn from a small patch of woods, cutting it down and painting the stumps with herbicide. This methods preserves desireable shrubs like chokecherry. It seems the goats probably can't get to the larger 15 foot tall buckthorn trees - the bow saw takes those out. Goats were introduced to the Galapagos Islands and are very destructive to those fragile islands. They are prolific breeders and have been "removed" from most of the islands.

Reading this article you'd think that goats prefer invasive plants. They'd much rather eat lush grasses and leafy plants over thorny plants and woody shrubs. In my friends pasture his goats ate everything but the invasives.

braxoz, My friend’s goats were definitely left in his pasture too long but they still never touched many of the unpalatable invasive weeds which only proves my point.
