ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – He wasn’t sure what to expect in his first big-league appearance, but facing a four-time All-Star with an important run in scoring position probably wasn’t it.

"Justin Morneau didn’t start Thursday, following Wednesday’s 13-inning loss, and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said “he was pretty sore today.” ---------------- Are you kidding me? This is a professional athlete whose duties entail standing 8-10 feet away from 1st base and covering that base on infield grounders. He had 6 at bats. 2 Strikeouts, and only 1 hit. He only advanced to 2nd base. That's 180 feet he had to run. How in the world can he be "pretty sore today"? I guess I'm an Ironman as I play doubleheader league in softball every week and I feel fine the next day. I run the bases much more and play outfield so am running much more than a 1B. It is simply disgusting the excuses this Manager and feeble players come up with on a daily basis.

*correction - Justin had 3 strikeouts in 6 AB. Maybe his back is sore from so many whiffs?
