Pope overhauls laws for Vatican City, criminalizing leaks of Vatican info and child sex abuse

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis overhauled the laws that govern the Vatican City State on Thursday, criminalizing leaks of Vatican information and specifically listing sexual violence, prostitution and possession of child pornography as crimes against children that can be punished by up to 12 years in prison.

Well, one out of two isn't bad. It's good to see that sexual crimes against children are now officially illegal in Vatican City. It's troubling that telling church "secrets" is also now illegal, but they don't have any sort of separation of church and state and can treat them as one entity if that's what they choose to do. Congratulations to Vatican City on getting a little closer to the rest of the modern world in the arena of criminal law.
