If the losers before Norwood had done their jobs the costs would not be $190. Just do it. We just might be surprised how well Gopher Athletics do in the future.

I have to agree it is important to hire the right staff so you are not paying out contracts for poor choices. I agree we need great facilities but jack up the tuition please to pay for it and don't raid the state budget.

once again student education takes a back seat to collage sports

I'll give 'em ten bucks. Just git 'er done.

I hope track and field get the attention they've lacked, especially since Minnesota is very competitive in these sports despite the relatively poor quality of UMN's track and field facilities. A top-notch track and field facility would be great, and might allow MN to host some outdoor championship meets.

Maybe they can use the excess profits from e-pulltabs

"Just get 'er done." How many times did I read that for the Target Center, the Twins stadium, the Xcel Energy arena, the TCF stadium, the Vikings stadium and the Saints stadium (among others)? I'm a sports fan, but the greed of some of my brethren is downright embarrassing

I think there should be a tax on the players who leave the U early and go pro in their sport. Too often, top notch players are recruited and then they leave and average so-so players are left to pick up the slack. Of course, we fail but we spent a lot of money on those who left early. It may keep players around if they know there is a price to pay for leaving a hole in the program. Companies do this with employees who leave early. Your 401K contribution is vested over time. If you leave early, you lose part of it.

Everybody on earth knew that Gophers football would still be terrible after TCF Bank Stadium was built. New buildings are nice, but they won't really change anything. But as long as they're using their own money, what do I care.
