Rumors floated at Mille Lacs recently suggested the Department of Natural Resources might expand the lake’s 2-inch walleye harvest slot, liberalize its two-fish limit — or both.

Lake Mille Lacs has been the most "studied" walleye water on the continent in the past 13 plus years--since the Treaty harvest era begin. Many millions of Mn. tax and Federal tax $$ have been spent on "studies" at the former walleye captial in the past 13 plus years. Mr. Jones and his staff, and the DNR leaders in St. Paul, need to quit side-stepping reality and instead, step up and force the court to end the ongoing mess creating Treaty harvest era management policies. He ( Mr. Jones) knows the harsh reality taking place right in front of everyone. It is high time the DNR does their job, PER THE LAW, and start the long process of saving one of the crown jewels of Mn. natural resources. SAVE MILLE LACS SPORT FISHING

It’s time DNR personnel escape their statistical cocoons and work to end the Mille Lacs “treaty fisheries management” monster (the state’s response to the spawning-time tribal gillnetting). The negatives, the costs at many levels, are unacceptably high. Where’s DNR leadership? The AG’s office? And powerful veteran outdoor journalists who know how big a scam the whole thing is? As for taxpayer-funded tribal co-management, who are unaccountable rights-denying tribal governments and tribal management agencies to have jurisdiction over anybody or anything in Minnesota?

Harvest levels are up! Err, umm, yea, it's great to hear it's racing towards a lake shutdown... Really nice knowing our DNR manages the lake for the use of Gill Nets.
