Target joins Bangladesh worker safety group

The alliance, led by Wal-Mart, Gap, and former senators George Mitchell and Olympia Snowe, will focus on improving working conditions in the impoverished Southeast Asian country.

So how is Target going to impact local government officials who take bribes to look away while substandard buildings are erected? Is Target going to watch how the foundations are poured and test the quality of the concrete? All of the things that caused the tragedy are not within the purview of the trade group. So all they'll do is look at fire extinguishers and extension cords and not be able to do a thing about the shoddy construction of the buildings.

I just think of it in a positive way. Good for them, it may be a small step or a very large step. But the step is forward!
