From once-underestimated to 'oops,' Perry reshaped Texas but faltered nationally _ so far

SAN ANTONIO — Gov. Rick Perry was a champion of fiercely conservative social activism long before the tea party was born. He oversaw the "Texas Miracle" job-creation boom and became the state's most powerful governor since Reconstruction.

Bachmann in a suit. His brand of lunacy won't fly nationally.

The vast majority of that "job creation boom" is of the seven dollar an hour variety.

Wasn't he also voted "most likely to secede"?

(Perry said): "And I'll also pray and reflect and work to determine my own future." ---- He might do well working for a carnival.

The tea party was formed to OPPOSE social conservatives like GWB who didn't mind spending money on "good things" as long as people were required to pray. The the media allowed Perry and Bachmann to usurp the movement.

Arspartz - You are EXACTLY right - the Tea Party was originally made up of Republicans who couldn't stand W and the rest of the free-spending Republicans. It avoided social issues.

The "Texas Miracle', now that is funny! Like Enron funny. Texas is Enron on steroids. Gimmicks and cutting has left Texas in a big hole and the wrecking ball is coming just after he leaves office. Convenient!

Wow. WILL WEISSERT writes a full-on JOB APPLICATION to be Rick Perry's Press Spokesman during his 2016 Senate run (I don't think even Rick Perry's legendary ego will allow him to run for President again, but there is no knowing what a clinical-narcissist like Perry will do.) Look into Weissert's history. He has a loooonnnggg history of penning fawning fluff articles for Reich-Wing politicians like Perry. Consider the source and move on.
