The former Gophers lefthander appeared to be on the way out three years ago, now he is an All-Star closer.

Perkins certainly looks like the real deal. Maybe this is the saving grace after the awful Ramos for Matt Capps deal and of course trading JJ Hardy for Jim Hoey. Sid should write a column on a retrospect view of the Billy Smith era of being our General Manager. Smith has more to do with the poor performance of the team than any other Twins executive. Just think ownership put Smith in that job. Shame on them!

There was even heavy discussion that 2009-10 offseason that Perkins would be traded for San Diego Padres third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff. ------------------------------- FYI: Kouzmanoff has played a total of 47 MLB games for three different teams in the last three years. Good no trade Twins.

Back to the Cal Griffith days of trading players to ease the payroll. It got us many losing seasons.
