WASHINGTON — Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has apologized for telling Congress earlier this year that the National Security Agency does not collect data on millions of Americans, a response he now says was "clearly erroneous."

Yeah, he's sorry that Snowden exposed him for being the bold-faced liar that he is.

If he was under oath at the time, he should be charged with perjury and obstruction. Many people have gone to jail for what he has done...he should not escape the same consequence given the seriousness of his lie and the broad sweeping surveillence of every American.

Well, the precedent has been set. Every American citizen can now lie under oath and if you get caught later, all you have to do is write an apology note to a Congressman/woman. No felony for perjury, no jail time. I would rather we enforce the laws on everyone, lock this liar up, and continue to at least try to have some semblance of a respectable judicial system.

The correct of definition of apologizing for what you previously said, is when you say something that you meant or intended to lie about when you said it in the first place. But, after further consideration it is in your best interest to apologize or withdraw the first statement you made.

This guy would be looked on by regressives as being a hero but the real hero is Snowden and the guy that should be a in jail is the head of the NSA for lying to congress.

There is a huge difference between "erroneous" and a flat out lie. I'm very, very tired of team Obama constantly lying to us. It's offensive and quite frankly it's just disgusting. CLAPPER LIED. CLAPPER KNEW HE LIED. CLAPPER IS STILL LYING. He should resign, or better yet he should be removed from his position. Will he? Of course not. Obama has surrounded himself with corrupt liars that walk lock step with his misguided policies and political ideology.

@bannedmuggs - you can't be serious. What administration passed all of the laws that made this NSA spying legal? I'm certainly not a fan of Obama but let's at least attempt to use facts here.
