We need a 2 guard who can also play defense. Mayo, Reddick, and Martin are all terrible defenders. I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Their defense is not terrible but more around average. Mayo could be a very good defender and Reddick is underated and plays solid team defense. You want a 2 guard who is an elite defender and shooter/scorer? Yeah, me too, but there are only a handfull of such players. I would be thrilled with Mayo or Reddick. Martin is 30 and declining fast but would still be an upgrade.

Rubio's effort on defense is contagious. I don't see any reason why Mayo and the rest of the team, even Love, won't catch a good case of D from Ricky that will infect them throughout the entire season and into the playoffs. (It's pretty hard to be a defensive slacker when RR is on the floor.) It sounds like the Wolves are in a good position to sign Mayo AND sign Bud and Pek. The Target Center should be rocking, and I'll be home rocking faster than ever as I watch the televised games with my customary root beer in hand. MIght half to get a helmut and seat belt. Who knows, I might even buy a ticket... I, for one, and pleased with what has taken place so far.

Tony Allen's defense was contagious and Mayo learned nothing from him. Don't see why Rubio would make others play D ? It takes more than one guy. You need 3-4 guys who want to play D. Mayo is terrible at D....he's never had an inkling to play it before. All of a sudden he's going to want to ? That's like asking Big Al Jefferson to pass out of the post.

If we get Mayo won't we have 2 UCLA SG's on our roster? I like Mayo but he and Muhammad both have character concerns that to keep in mind. As for Reddick he would be a great fit as he can hit 3's and over the past 2 years he has stepped up his D. (Please check stats before you post). Martin is an interesting fit as he can hit the 3 ball and we need outside shooting with our core strength being inside scoring with Pek, Love & D-Will. I would personally take Mayo as he has the most trade value moving forward and is most likely to take over a playoff game. I believe he lead Dallas in scoring last year and was their only scoring option when Dirk went down. I just think we will need another veteran to mold Muhammad.

Martin would be great, but I don't think we have enough $$$ to lure him away from a ready contender in OKC. When you move on from the Martin idea, Mayo is the best option given his skill set, price, and age. BTW, Mayo went to USC, not UCLA, to respond to the post earlier. However the hype around him heading to college, along with the lesser production, is very similar to what happened with Muhammad.

Yeah Mayo scored for the Mavs...with his increased workload with Dirk down for a month or so he was able to lead them...not to the playoffs with basically the same core as the playoff team the year before. Plus his advanced stats of win shares and efficiency rating actually went down with his increased role.

we should offer Luke to Chicago in a sign and trade deal for Belinelli, that way we don't get an extra salary... Belinelli is an excellent shooter, played for Thibodeau, so he knows how to play defense an can handle the ball, all the things that Adelman wants...

For those who believe in advanced stats and doubt Mayo's defensive liabilities realize that Mayo had the exact same defensive win shares, the estimate of how much a players' defensive contributions contribute towards wins, as Luke Ridnour.
