Former intelligence official calls for more transparency on secret US surveillance programs

WASHINGTON — The former director of the CIA and National Security Agency says the government should release more information about its secretive surveillance programs to reassure Americans that their privacy rights are being protected.

Make secret spying operations "more transparent"? Then they're no longer secret nor are they successful. The paranoia of some Americans is very odd. After 9/11, they were begging Bush to keep us safe. Now with Obama in the White House, they don't care about safety any more, even as we have been kept safe by these programs. Now it's just transparency. I don't get it!
