Well, I'm glad that outside of the ability to marry, gay couples are constantly reminded that they'll be punished by having to pay higher taxes. While I am sure this will happen, I would like to believe that this article and others like it overplay the importance of money in a relationship. Thank you for the research and effort that went into this article. However, truly, if gays were worried that much about money, wouldn't they just stay unmarried? Clearly the ability to have one's love recognized by the very country they pay taxes into and the ability to be able to stay beside a loved one's bedside as they slip away from this earth trumps a few percentage points on the tax scale. I have no intentions of condemning this article, but perhaps this and articles like it might be partially to blame for the dismal success rates marriages seem to have these days. I don't condemn divorce, but I condemn those who would seek to deny one set of couples the same rights as another when the one they so desperately seek to deify so tragically ends partly because of money. People, money may make life easier, but it is not the source of happiness. For your sake and the sake of others, have a financial discussion before rushing into your marriage (gay or straight(), That is what this article should really address!!
